What Can You Expect?
Starting psychotherapy takes courage. So that you know what to expect, I have transparently outlined the process for you here. Every step serves to ensure the best possible treatment for you.
Getting in Touch
Contact me – by phone, email, or via Doctolib. We will arrange an appointment for an initial consultation. Don't hesitate to ask questions – every question is valid.
Initial Consultation (Psychotherapeutic Consultation Hour)
In the initial consultation, we get to know each other. You describe your concerns and I form a first impression of your situation. Together, we clarify whether psychotherapy makes sense and whether I am the right therapist for you. This consultation is non-binding.
Trial Sessions
In 2-4 trial sessions, we deepen the diagnostic process. We develop a shared understanding of your issues, formulate therapy goals, and create an individual treatment plan. At the same time, we assess whether the therapeutic relationship works well for both sides.
Application
If you are billing through private health insurance, civil servant aid, or the cost reimbursement procedure, I submit the therapy application to your insurer. For self-paying patients, this step is not necessary – therapy can begin immediately.
Therapy Phase
In regular sessions (usually weekly, 50 minutes), we work on your goals. The duration depends on your needs:
- Short-term therapy: 12–24 sessions
- Long-term therapy: up to 60 sessions (extension possible)
Completion & Relapse Prevention
Toward the end of therapy, we prepare the conclusion together. We discuss strategies for relapse prevention and secure the progress achieved. Follow-up appointments can be arranged at longer intervals if needed.
How Long Does Therapy Last?
The duration of therapy is individual and depends on your concerns, your goals, and your progress. As a guide:
Short-term Therapy
12–24 sessions, approx. 3–6 months
Suitable for clearly defined topics, acute stressors, or milder conditions.
Long-term Therapy
Up to 60 sessions (extension possible), approx. 1–2 years
For more complex conditions, profound change goals, or chronic illnesses.
Ready for the First Step?
The initial consultation is non-binding. Feel free to get in touch – I look forward to meeting you.
