Billing According to GOP
As a private practice, I bill therapy services according to the Fee Schedule for Psychotherapists (GOP). The GOP regulates the remuneration of psychotherapeutic services for privately insured patients, civil servants, and self-paying patients.
The specific cost per session depends on the type and duration of treatment. I am happy to discuss the details with you in the initial consultation. Below you will find an exemplary overview of the cost breakdown:
| Service (exemplary) | Duration | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Psychotherapeutic consultation (initial session) | 50 minutes | 134.06 € |
| Short-term psychotherapy, per session | 50 minutes | 134.06 € |
| Administration, evaluation, and discussion of a psychological test battery, per battery | – | 75.75 € |
Who Covers the Costs?
Cost coverage depends on your insurance situation.
Private Health Insurance
You will receive an invoice from me according to the GOP, which you submit to your private health insurance. Reimbursement depends on your plan – usually the costs are fully or largely covered.
Recommendation: Clarify in advance with your private insurance and/or civil servant aid to what extent psychotherapeutic services are reimbursed, and have the necessary application forms sent to you.
Public Health Insurance (GKV)
I do not hold a public health insurance license. Direct billing with public health insurance is therefore not possible.
Under certain conditions, however, a cost reimbursement procedure according to Section 13 (3) SGB V can be applied for. This is possible if:
- You can demonstrably not find a timely therapy place with a licensed therapist
- There is an urgent need for treatment
- Your application is approved by the public insurer
I am happy to support you with the application process and explain the individual steps. Please note that approval cannot be guaranteed.
Cost reimbursement template (PDF)Civil Servant Aid (Beihilfe)
For civil servants and their family members, cost reimbursement through Beihilfe is available. Reimbursement is usually 50-80% according to the Beihilfe regulation of the respective employer.
The remaining portion is often covered by a private supplementary insurance.
Self-Pay
As a self-paying patient, you benefit from several advantages:
- No waiting time – prompt start of therapy possible
- Full confidentiality – no disclosure to insurance companies
- No application process – uncomplicated start
- No documentation obligation toward third parties
Coaching
Coaching services are billed exclusively as self-pay services and are not reimbursable through health insurance.
